Background Analysis
The Minneapolis Health Department is requesting authorization from the City Council to host a Health Career Connection (HCC) intern for the period May 15, 2023 – December 31, 2023. Health Career Connection is a comprehensive professional development program that provides paid summer internships to undergraduate and recent graduates in the field of public health and healthcare. Through partnerships with local organizations, HCC provides internships in a variety of settings including but not limited to: hospitals, community health centers, medical groups, health plans, local health departments, community-based organizations and advocacy groups. During the course of the internship, students will work on meaningful projects and gain professional and personal development. HCC provides extensive exposure to health careers through workshops and events guiding students towards their authentic health career path.
The Minneapolis Health Department is a potential placement site for an HCC intern for 10 weeks during 2023. The intern will work with the department’s Accreditation Coordinator on big picture departmental efforts including coordination and planning on reaccreditation, quality improvement, ethics, the community health improvement partnership, and research for ongoing workforce development.
