Background Analysis
The City of Minneapolis, in partnership with the City of Columbia Heights, is leading the reconstruction of a 1-mile segment of 37th Avenue Northeast between Central Avenue and Stinson Boulevard. This street represents the municipal boundary between Minneapolis and Columbia Heights. The project will include sidewalks, ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, an off-street bike trail, boulevards with trees, new curb and gutter, new pavement, traffic signal improvements, pedestrian street lighting, and utility improvements as needed. Construction is anticipated to begin in the 2023 construction season.
Authorization of Cooperative Agreement
This action is to authorize a cooperative agreement that details cost participation and maintenance responsibilities for the 37th Ave NE Reconstruction Project. Hennepin County will reimburse the City, not to exceed $75,000, for costs associated with reconstructing 37th Ave NE and Stinson Boulevard intersection. The scope of work is to remove and replace the old pavement. The work is anticipated to be completed in the 2023 construction season.
