Background Analysis

On June 21, 2023, the Health Department presented to the Public Health and Safety Committee about the ongoing opioid epidemic, the racial justice impacts in Minneapolis, and emerging medication for addiction treatment options. This legislative directive picks up where that presentation left off so that the Health Department can outline the city's short-, medium-, and long-term plans for opioid intervention, and appraise Council and the public of the relevant benchmarks and needs to be successful.
