Background Analysis
Ryan Companies is offering loaned executive services to the City of Minneapolis to support two high priority initiatives that require a high touch to keep them moving forward. The projects that have been identified include: (1) an executive search process to fill the Director of Community Planning and Economic Development position; (2) organizational development related to the Minneapolis Safe and Thriving Communities report that was presented to the Public Health & Safety Committee on July 12, 2023.
The individual who is graciously offering their services to the City of Minneapolis is Colleen Dockendorf, Chief Impact Officer at Ryan. Ms. Dockendorf has a wealth of related knowledge and experience and is value-driven and civic-minded individual who brings with her the following professional experience: Chief Human Resources Officer, Ryan Companies; Vice President, Compensation, Ameriprise Financial, Inc.; Senior Director of Corporate Human Resources and Executive Compensation, Ceridian Corporation; other roles in Human Resources; as well as Interim Executive Director, Southwest Metro Transit Commission. Ms. Dockendorf’s career focus includes executive leadership development programs, executive recruiting and onboarding, and organizational design. In her most recent role, she has guided Ryan’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) structure to ensure that private commercial development strongly reflects the mission to positively impact communities. Throughout her career, Ms. Dockendorf developed and successfully implemented several diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) programs, led racial equity task forces, and created employee resources groups (ERGs) addressing the needs and interests of women, BIPOC, LGTBQIA, Latin, Asian, and Veteran individuals, as well as those focusing on mental health.
Additionally, Ms. Dockendorf current and past affiliations and memberships include: Board of Directors, Project for Pride in Living; Board of Directors, Second Harvest Heartland; Pastoral Council, Church of St. Therese; Executive Mentor, Menttium; City Council, City of Chanhassen; Public Safety Commission, City of Chanhassen; Chair, Southwest Metro Transit Commission. She holds an BA in Political Science, an MBA, and is a Public Policy Fellow with the Humphrey Institute.
