Background Analysis

The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy will cover travel expenses, including flight, lodging and meals, for Planning Director Meg McMahan to travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts to participate in their Big City Planning Director's Institute October 15-17, 2023.  The Big City Planning Director's Institute is a collaboration of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, and the American Planning Association. This private, invitation-only gathering convenes planning directors from the nation's largest cities to examine emerging public policy questions that influence the planning and design of large cities and their metropolitan regions. In 2022, the Institute was attended by 32 directors, representing big cities from New York to San Diego. Invitations to the event are sent to the planning directors of the 30 largest cities by population and to planning directors of major cities within the 20 largest metropolitan statistical areas.
