Background Analysis
The Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) is hosting a gathering of 25 local government jurisdictions who were selected to participate in GARE's Jurisdiction Evaluation Learning Exchange (JELE) cohort. Participants in the JELE cohort received training on understanding how evaluation can be used as a learning tool and building capacity to leverage evaluative thinking in racial equity and systems change efforts, while advising GARE on developing an Equity Evaluation Framework for GARE member networks. The City of Minneapolis is a member of the GARE network and Director Prince Corbett has been participating in the monthly JELE cohort meetings. During this in-person workshop, GARE will formally introduce the "GARE Equity Evaluation Framework" and guidance on how to use the framework. This evaluation framework will help inform how the Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging department can evaluate the efficacy of the City of Minneapolis's Strategic Racial Equity and Action Plan by outlining principles, priorities, and methodology for evaluation. Travel costs, lodging, and meals will be covered by a gift from the Government Alliance on Race and Equity for $1,352.
