Background Analysis
The Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) selected the City of Minneapolis as one of 25 local government jurisdiction to join its Jurisdiction Evaluation Learning Exchange (JELE) cohort, where Directors Prince Corbett and Kira Hasbargen have participated since November 2024. Through monthly sessions, the cohort received training on using evaluation as a tool for learning and advancing racial equity. Participants also contributed to the development of GARE’s new Equity Evaluation Framework. In June, GARE will formally introduce this framework and provide guidance on its application. The framework will support the Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging department in evaluating the City’s Strategic Racial Equity and Action Plan through clear principles, priorities, and metrics. This collaborative effort aims to build evaluation capacity across jurisdictions and strengthen shared accountability for racial equity outcomes. It also reinforces Minneapolis's commitment to using data and evaluation to drive systemic change. The estimated value of this donation is $4,000.
