Background Analysis

The 2026 Private Property Inflow and Infiltration Grant Program from MCES provides $1.5 million in wastewater revenue to provide grants to private property owners to help with repairs that will remove and prevent clear water from entering the wastewater treatment system. The City of Minneapolis was awarded $230,000 in 2024 and $250,000 in 2025. This funding goes directly to property owners that apply for assistance.

Grant awards range from $5,000 to $10,000 depending on location. Public Works is using the Centers for Disease Control's Social Vulnerability Index to divide the city into three areas with $5,000, $7,500 and $10,000 grant amounts available. Lower level grants require a match, see link below for examples.
