Background Analysis

Tabulation of three (3) bids received on Official Publication No. 8613 for Minneapolis Convention Center Terrazzo Update - Floor. Accepting the low bid of Advance Terrazzo & Tile Co. Inc., in the amount of $3,397,620.00, to provide all materials, labor, equipment and incidentals for the construction of the Minneapolis Convention Center Terrazzo Update - Floor for the Minneapolis Convention Center, and authorizing a contract for the project, all in accordance with City specifications.

This project is to repair the design and structural deficiencies that currently exist in the main ground floor lobby of the Minneapolis Convention Center. Portions of the existing floor and cement bed must be removed and replaced as the areas have deteriorated beyond repair. The 125,000 square feet of existing terrazzo will be covered and/or removed and a new epoxy based terrazzo mixture will installed that is ten times stronger than the existing cement based floor.
