Background Analysis
The Skyway Senior Center was founded in 2001 and has been supported via external funding with the exception of pro bono support provided by the Minneapolis Health Department. In 2015, the Center lost external sponsorship and has been supported through smaller grants and the Friends of the Skyway Senior Center. In November, 2016, The Minneapolis Health Department entered into a letter of intent with Ecumen to take over Center Operations. After many meetings and exchanges of information, the Health Department recently learned that Ecumen has declined to assume Center operations. The Center will close at the end of March, 2017.
