Background Analysis

Hall’s Island was a historical feature in the Mississippi River that had been eliminated when the channel between the island and mainland was filled, long before MPRB acquired the property.  In 2018, the MPRB, in consultation with the Army Corps of Engineers, re-created Hall's Island by dredging a channel across MPRB-owned land and re-grading the resulting island. Due to the re-creation of the island, Public Works requested an easement deed to document property rights current to the updated shorelines, thus formalizing jurisdictional roles, including the inspection and maintenance of the Plymouth Avenue Bridge. There is no cost to the City for the easement for PID#1502924440071.
