The impact of DNA analysis of case evidence from crimes committed in the City Of Minneapolis is spread throughout the city’s diverse communities. Evidence is collected following forensic and investi gative policy and standards, further evaluated for the likelihood of existing DNA evidence for furthering case prosecution, and is currently sent to the MN Bureau of CriminalApprehension for any DNA to be identified and analyzed. Investigative DNA evidence is forwarded for analysis regardless of theseverity of the offense, demographics of crime victims or suspected offender, or locati on of the crime incident. Evidence collectionfollows forensic, investigative and legal standards, not demographics or geography.
The collecti on and DNA analysis of evidence follows the same forensic and investi gative standards for all city constituents.
Evidence submitted for DNA analysis is not tracked by demographics or city geography.
