Background Analysis
Public Works previously obtained Council authorization to cost participate on the County led project regarding pedestrian improvements and traffic signal upgrades at the 35W on and off ramps at East Hennepin Avenue (CSAH 52). MnDOT and the County have requested the City of Minneapolis enter into a three party agreement for this same project that commits the City to maintain the sidewalks, traffic signals and streetlighting systems within the project area. There is no further cost to the City or funds changing hands in this third party agreement. It is recommended the Council authorize execution of this agreement as these maintenance responsibilities existed previous to this upcoming project and is not an assumption of new responsibilities.
MnDOT also requests the City of Minneapolis adopt a resolution authorizing the City to enter into this third party agreement and commit to its maintenance responsibilities.
