Background Analysis

The City adopted the first Green Fleet Policy in 2010. As the climate changes, the City has taken several actions to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions including the 2013 Climate Action Plan, the Minneapolis 2040 plan, and the 2019 Climate Emergency Declaration. This update to the Green Fleet Policy will ensure the City is following the latest sustainability practices to assist in achieving fleet GHG reduction goals. Fleet Services received stakeholder input on the policy update fromseveral department representatives, sustainability staff, and the Community Environmental Advisory Committee.
