Background Analysis

The City of Minneapolis has been awarded a $30,000 grant to hire a consultant to update the locally-designated Washburn-Fair Oaks Historic District Design Guidelines, adopted, and last updated, forty-six years ago in 1976.  The Certified Local Government (CLG) grant is a federal grant administrated through the Minnesota State Historic Preservation Office of the Minnesota Department of Administration.  Since 1983, as a Certified Local Government, the City of Minneapolis has been eligible to apply for, and has received grants for projects such as context statements, landmark designations, and historic resource surveys.
