Section 4: Analysis
Accepting and utilizing SCORE funds helps maintain lower costs for services provided for Solid Waste & Recycling customers. When appropriate, additional staff time and resources are focused in areas where there is higher contamination or lower participation in recycling or organics recycling programs. Funding will also help Solid Waste & Recycling gather additional data and provide better service to residents living in multi-unit buildings that do not have City collection services.
Section 5: Evaluation
Participation rates, contamination rates, and educational tags left for the City's recycling and organics recycling program are tracked. An increase in participation and a decrease in contamination overall shows improvements and are used to determine success.
Solid Waste & Recycling's provides regular updates to its customers through an annual mailer, Recycling Reminder emails, and by attending neighborhood and community events. SW&R also provides information for Council Members and neighborhood and community groups to include in their communications. Information encourages residents to properly participate in waste reduction and diversion programs and provides updates on the status of programs.
